Mick played for the Magpies from 1968 to 1971.

In total Mick played 60 games of which 38 were in First Grade.

Mick Alchin was born in the south-west NSW town of Cootamundra in 1943.

Mick was educated at the Cootamundra De la Salle College which was also where he played rugby league at an early age.

In his teenage years, Mick relocated to the NSW city of Newcastle. He attended the Marist Brothers High School at Hamilton and also Cooks Hill High School. He played in the strong Newcastle rugby league competition before heading to Sydney where he joined Wests. Mick soon became one of the favourite players of Wests supporters with his strong and assertive style of play.

 Mick was a regular at the Annual Pratten Park Magpies reunions where Mick enjoyed catching up with old team mates and friends.

Mick located to the NSW Central Coast and became involved in the Australian Stock Horse industry. He was a competitive rider competing at various country events as well as the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Mick passed away on the Central Coast on 30 September 2025. He will be sadly missed by many.
