It is with great pride that I would like to recognise the achievement of our website passing 200,000 visits (hits) since the 19th of May 2014.

The inspiration for our  website came from Geoff Squires, former Secretary of the Pratten Park Magpies.

Geoff identified the needs and benefits of improved communication with our Members.

In the ‘early days’, Geoff assumed the role of  Editor in Chief and we spent many hours chatting via the phone to insure our Website was of a standard that befitted who we are.

Steve Lothian, a passionate Wests Magpie supporter, who’s dad Jack and uncle Stan played for Wests in the 1940’s, volunteered to build the website.

The website has evolved over the last 10 years from a slow start of around 50 Hits per week to over 500 Hits per week currently. This is can be contributed to a couple of things.

Firstly, our Website link is posted on several Rugby League related Facebook pages, including one that has over 40,000 members.

Secondly, the group SMS system currently coordinated by Pratten Park Magpies Secretary, Nathan Cole also includes links to our Website.

Nathan also contributes to the Website and we spend many hours writing and rewriting the stories and articles.

I have greatly enjoyed my role as Pratten Park Magpies Website Coordinator during the last 10 years, and besides Geoff, Steve and Nathan, there are a few other people I would like to thank.

In particular Steve Dillon, Rick Fetherston, Steven Lalich, Steve Shields, my great friends at the Wests Archives, Wests Ashfield Leagues, Holman Barnes Group, our Members and of course former Wests Magpies players who have generously contributed their time and information in the preparation of the many stories and articles.

Tony Lewis.
