Noel Kelly OAM and Geoff Squires at a Pratten Park Magpies reunion.
Pratten Park Magpies are absolutely delighted to advise that current Committeeman and former long-term Secretary, Geoff Squires, has been appointed as the Wests Magpies Representative on the new interim (6 months) Wests Tigers Board. Geoff will join Barry O’Farrell, Chair, Dave Gilbert representing the Holman Barnes Group and Danny Stapleton representing Balmain Tigers. Shane Richardson will be interim CEO.
Geoff is a Wests man through and through. Attending Mortlake Primary School and later Fort Street Boys High, Geoff started following Wests Magpies as a 12-year-old in 1961 whilst playing for the mighty Concord United Club. He was a regular spectator @ Pratten Park and the SCG, indeed attending the trio of Grand Finals in 1961, 62 & 63 and is a lifelong supporter of Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers.
Geoff represented our Club in Presidents Cup in 1969 and was graded the same year, before going on to play 14 Reserve Grade and 26 3rd Grade Games over the next few seasons scoring 8 tries along the way.
More recently, Geoff held the Position of Secretary, Pratten Park Magpies with distinction, from 2012 to 2022 and is currently still a Member of our Committee. In addition, Geoff is also on the Committee of the Northern Sydney Family of League Foundation.
Geoff has a BEc (Hons), MBA, FAICD and extensive professional experience in the corporate world including Directorships with various companies.
He is delighted to have the opportunity to be involved with the ‘change process’ at Wests Tigers and will no doubt make an outstanding contribution to that process. Geoff’s appointment is in his own words. ‘My appointment reflects the very high regard in which Pratten Park Magpies are held within the Wests organisation’.
I am sure you will join with me in congratulating Geoff on his appointment and wishing him every success as a Board Member of Wests Tigers!
Regards
