Ken at a PPM Reunion
Western Suburbs Magpies are saddened to advise of the passing of Ken Morris aged 85.
Ken played in our junior representative teams as a teenager.
He later moved to the northern beaches but always remained a ‘passionate Western Suburbs man’ who dedicated many hours in his major roll as Wests gear steward.
From handing out new gear at the start of every season and washing jerseys.
Ken spent many hours travelling from his northern beaches home to Lidcombe Oval in the mid 1980s and then to Campbelltown Sports Stadium right to the end of the 1999 NRL season.
His family supported him along the way, with wife Carol, Daughters Kim and Lara all working in the canteen at Lidcombe and Campbelltown as well as erecting sponsor signs and setting up the oval surroundings.
Ken’s Son, Ryan was the official Western Suburbs ball boy in the mid 80s.
Ken continued to support the Magpies after he retired, attending reunions and luncheons until recent times.
He was awarded Life Membership (No 92) for his dedication and service to our Club.
